Candles are always a must. So much so, that I have 6 candles on my coffee table. Five on the top and one on the bottom. Good thing we can help you there!
Have you ever bought a candle only to have it stop burning half way down? This is something known as 'tunnelling' and it's a common problem caused by not following your candle care instructions carefully. When you buy a candle, your Chandler should have given you with a small insert to give you directions on how to get the most from your Soy Candle and ensure it burns well. Follow the instructions below and you will always get a well performing candle. Trim the wick slightly before lighting for the first time. If you don't, the flame will be too large and cause an irregular melt pool. Make sure when lighting your candle for the first time to burn for 4 hours. Make sure the melt pool (molten wax) extends to the edge of the candle jar. Never 'blow out' your candle. Use a wick dipper to extinguish the flame. If you don't have one on hand, you can simply use the back of a teaspoon to submerge the wick just under the molten wax. If using this method, you will need to use the teaspoon to bring the wick back into a standing position. Keep away from draughts. Draughty areas can cause the flame to burn to one side and tunnel into your candle. Never burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Soy + Coconut wax is VERY soft. Power burning (what it is referred to when burned in excess of 4 hour bursts) and overheat the wax making it too soft. If you have ever had a candle where the wick has fallen over near the end of the jar, this is why. Candle making is both a science, and an art. Divinity put the utmost care and attention into every candle we make and we want you to get the most from your purchase!! Mishelle xx
