I’m not sure if you’re anything like me. But if you are, you would be sitting at your office desk wondering if there is anything more to life than ‘work, pay bills, repeat’
Sound familiar? Yeah, I thought so. For so long, I felt that this was just the way life is. Fast forward 10 years (and 2 kids later) and my priorities are starting to shift. I’m back in a corporate 9 to 5 now but as each day passes, I’m wondering what else I’m missing out on. Some of my inner circle have time off during the week and I’m constantly bombarded with images of them camping, baking and other general ‘fun mum stuff’
Now as much as I wish we could, there’s no way we can afford to be a one income family anymore. My husband recently left his high paying management position and has taken a whopping 50k pay cut (yes, you read that right) so I have no other option but to work, I’m just looking for another way to contribute to the family budget while still having time to enjoy my kids while they still want to be around boring ol’ me.
My one true passion is obviously the candle range that my husband and I have created. We love it. There’s nothing better than after a long (sometimes stressful) day than heading into the studio and creating our masterpieces. The downside is we really only have after business hours to do this, which means more time away from the kiddos. Something’s gotta give, right?
One of my dreams is to be able to work from home and home-school my children (seriously, don’t judge – modern day home-schooling is AH MAZ ING) and that’s what I need to focus on.
Slowly building my business while still earning a full time income means we don’t have to go without while I get my shit together. There’ll be long nights, weekends and lots of sacrifice but I truly believe that I can improve our lives doing this (one day, full time)
It pays to remember that I have the love and support of my family and friends. Without them I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. They are the reason I’m able to offer such an amazing product. And that’s something to be thankful for.
